The semester is almost over!!!

As the semester winds down, everybody starts to look at what they have learned or completed over the semester. In the English class, we are being asked to do that by our professor. We have been introduced to many different ideas sporadically throughout the semester, and some of them will probably leave with us as we exit the semester and continue on with our lives. I found family members on Twitter and some of my old work friends and think it is really interesting to see them try and figure out the new techonology, of course they are all on Facebook now so I could just stay updated with them that way.

This class proved to be harder than I thought it was going to be because I apparently did not understand all the concepts of things that we learned. The internet is an important tool to keep in touch with other people, and I think it is awesome that people over long distances can do that; I just think it is something that is very vast. I never saw the point of people who just wrote about their lives on blog, but if you actually know the person, it is interesting to see what they are up to in their daily lives.

Leaving

I had to take an extra day of Thanksgiving break this year. There just isn’t enough time in one visit to make all of the doctor appointments that I need to make. I know that as a teenager, I should not complain when I am ordered to take prescription pain medication on a regular basis, but I do not like having my life limited because I am on Vicaden. Therefore, I have to figure out whatever is going on so that maybe there is a fix for it that is a little more permanent. Hopefully the doctor will call me before I fly back to school, and hopefully it will be good news. That is the hope for the day

Writing on the Breaks :(

It is harder to remember to blog everyday than someone would think. Over breaks it seems like we should actually be allowed to rest a little bit since the average college student is extremely involved on campus. There are Resident Assistants who have to be on duty even though there are hardly any residents in the building, and there are multiple classes that have assignments that require them to work for most of the break. I have a hard time working on my blogs when I am on break because I lose track of what day it is and when I have written last.

What a beautiful mess

Christians are supposed to accept every challenge that comes our way. There is a saying that if He brings you to it, He will bring you through it. We are supposed to rejoice in our suffering. Romans 5:3-4 says “We glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance character, and character hope.” I agree completely with this statement because I have suffered (I’m sure people have had gone through worse things than me though) and I thought that I couldn’t go on, but God carried me through the situation and I am a stronger person for it.

I thank God for bringing me to these trials that I have had. I would not be as close to Him as I am if He hadn’t, and I wouldn’t be the person that I am today without it. People have a tendency to judge me on my past because I have made errors and they look at that and make opinions about me as a whole. It is impossible to know the character of a person without looking at who they are at the present. The past is history and all that matters is our actions of today. That is one of the hardest concepts to understand, but one of the most important ones.

I’m running out of things to write about!

It is becoming more and more difficult for me to find things to write about, but at the same time I am understanding more why people like blogs. It is a way for their opinions and thoughts to be heard without forcing them on others. I really don’t think anyone will read my blog, which is one hundred percent okay with me. I am just writing to write, although there are sometimes when I need say something, then it’s a great outlet. It is refreshing to have a class where we learn things that aren’t so rigid and formal. I like how we learn new things.

Life Just Keeps Going…

It’s amazing how when you are sick, or something is going on so you cannot be involved in life like you always have been, and you think that life is going to wait to keep going. It never does, but you always think it will. I forgot to do my daily blog for the past two days because I felt like death. It never occurred to me that I would have to keep doing things even though I couldn’t get out of bed. I haven’t been sick in years, so it was weird when I actually was. I didn’t know how to act, I didn’t know what to eat or drink or anything; it was pretty entertaining. 

I’m better now, for the most part. I still can’t breath or anything, but I went out tonight and had a lot of fun with my friends playing games and just hanging out. It was a good time.

Tat it up 2

In one of my earlier blogs I told about why I got my dragonfly tattoo, but this past weekend I decided to be crazy and get another one. I had been thinking about what I wanted for a long time, and just randomly decided that I didn’t want to wait any more. 

I just got “Saorsa” tattooed on my rib. It is gaelic for freedom and is something that is important to me. The tattoo isn’t important, but the idea of being free. There have been times in my life when I have felt extremely confined and unable to do anything that I wanted, but those times are past and I love the feeling of being free. It is the most important part of my faith: the freedom I find in Christ.

I’m so tired.

It is a bummer that you cannot catch up with sleep. They say that the only thing you can do is get enough sleep for that night, like the eight hours for the night you are on. So I slept all day, and am going back to sleep the moment I’m done writing this so hopefully that is not true and I won’t be so tired.

Tat tat tat it up

Last January I got a tattoo of a dragonfly on my ankle. This is the story behind that:

When I was in elementary school, my next door neighbor was from Taiwan and he use to catch dragonflies for us kids and tie their tail to a string so that we could play with them. We would hold one end of the string and the dragonfly would fly in circles on the other. I always hated being cruel to living things (except ants) and so I would always set my dragonfly free.

I found Christ my sophomore year of high school and it was such a freeing feeling. I felt like all the weight of this world was lifted off of my shoulders and I could breath better than ever before. I was free to love and care for others, without worrying about the problems of this world, and I couldn’t have been happier. I always related that freedom I found in Christ back to the dragonfly being set free. I felt like I was the dragonfly, finally free to do whatever it is I like.

I know that most people see the church as restricting and a place full of rules, but it is the exact opposite to me. I do not have to worry about my sin, and I know that no matter how far I fall, Christ will welcome me back with open arms. I feel free to be who I am supposed to be without worrying about the ways of this world and focusing on what Christ wants.

The Corporation (Narrative Argument)

The Corporation uses many different types of arguments in order to get their point across. In this clip, the producers used a narrative argument to try and tell people about how the U.S. military has influenced other countries for its own gain. The narrator tells a story about a specific general who has said he has worked in many different countries for product benefit in America. The clip includes information about the Great Depression.

When a country is at war, or there is unrest somewhere within the trade industry, it is important for the economy to have some security for prices and jobs.
